Matthew made several short films and a/v recordings of his own unique performance art, outdoor installations, and satirical plays, often assisted by his friend Matthew Pullum who would do the camera work and be fully involved. Most of these were filmed and stored on 8mm Super 8 film, in the 1980’s and ‘90’s. Later on he stopped making this type of work but used his own home video camera to film himself describing/presenting things he had made, and from 2009 collected a large number of audio recordings of himself singing his own songs, reading his own poetry and even having conversations in his studio about paintings with visitors, without their knowledge, on his many mobile phones. These have all been converted to digital format and are held in the archive.
